What Winnipeggers' are Saying
Credibility and
Accountability should be the government's highest priority
at every level and in relation to the photo radar issue both are
seriously lacking. You have my full support in this matter.
To achieve Credibility and
Accountability with any level of government or it's
services there needs to be a mandatory and scheduled public
forum to address any confirmed facts that question their
policies and decisions. This forum requires an independent
panel with the authority to enforce any necessary changes based
on the findings. The panel should also include a judge with the
authority to terminate employment if it is proven anyone was
negligent in their responsibility and with tax dollars.
Currently our vote does
nothing to challenge or change the system that we are subjected
to which leaves all of us with efforts such as yours, through
public awareness in the media, to effect even the slightest
response let alone any changes. Obviously this approach
offers minimal or no Credibility, Accountability or
Consequences.
Based on the common and
global knowledge for the government's lack of Credibility and
Accountability at every level how could any elected official or
party disagree with the need for this to happen.
Thank you for a site that
makes sense. Mike
I drive 100 km per day in the
city. My yearly mileage is 25,000 km. How is it fair to
people like myself who make a living driving? I totally
agree with all your facts. It's a cash cow! A friend
informed me that the Province is hinting to reduce the over
speed limit to 4km! Wow! It sure sounds a lot faster in km!
This Canadian metric system makes it sound like we all drive
like lunatics! Oh your 10km over! That's a big 4mph! What a
joke!

Thanks so much for this site and the work
you've put in. I thought maybe I'm the only person in Winnipeg who's absolutely
pissed at these cameras.
Just from the placement of some of the cameras you can see that "safety" is not what this is all about. They are there to make money (or do they?) If the cameras stopped speeding altogether i'd say they may be beneficial. But take a look how drivers are driving between the camera locations!! An officer can discern dangerous speeding and bad driving. But to a camera it's black or white. Furthermore, did the "authorities" come to the tax payer and ask whether they should be used? Not likely, they just DO. I'm all for organized and safe driving, but these cameras are not accomplishing that. Let's scrap them altogether, oh, and I have a marvelous idea. Let's spend more time on making the streets easier and safer by timing lights at intersections. I've personally phoned city signals about this issue numerous times. But nothing gets done! I may as well talk to my cat! I've driven in many, many cities across North America - Winnipeg is a joke! What a "green" city we are! Keep as many motorists as possible idling at red lights, keep us on the road longer. Again thanks and let me know how to fight on! Kenneth
